4,800 Yeard old

Sometimes you just have to marvel at the wonders of the natural world.....

From Ross Andersen - "It is hard to resist cliché when conveying the antiquity of the bristlecone pine. The oldest of the living bristlecones were just saplings when the pyramids were raised. The most ancient, called Methuselah, is estimated to be more than 4,800 years old; with luck, it will soon enter its sixth millennium as a living, reproducing organism. Because we conceive of time in terms of experience, a life spanning millennia can seem alien or even eternal to the human mind. It is hard to grasp what it would be like to see hundreds of generations flow out from under you in the stream of time, hard to imagine how rich and varied the mind might become if seasoned by five thousand years of experience and culture."

Lebron 3.0

Life is always throwing change at us.  We all thought we had Lebron pegged.  Unreal player, amazing taltent, but a huge flaw.  He wasn't clutch.  when the pressure got turned up, he went soft, couldn't get it done.

Then he throws a game like game 6 of the 2012 Eastern Conference Finals at us.

Game 6.  In Boston (who supposedly has the best fans...I feel ill typing that but it does seem like they are ass-kicker if nothing else.  That place was a meat grinder last night for sure).
Heat had started series off 2-0, Celtics were done.  The Celtics had come back, took 3 straight, including in Miami game 5.  The Heat were set for another eipic fail and brutal offseason.  Lebron was being honestly compared to Durant as the best player.  He was set up perfectly to be the goat here.

so I think it's fair to say the pressure could not have been a whole lot higher.

And he melted the building.  45-15-5.  He shot 73% (19-26)!

He started off great, then went unreal.  He could NOT be stopped. He looked like an assassin, and was acting like one....Finally!!

Wow.  Let's all hope he keeps it up because the world, weather they want to admit it or not, WANTS him to.

Adventures in Scotch: Hennesy

I’ve been into scotch, so a friend suggested I try Cognac.  He specifically suggested Hennessy.

Good advice for sure.  Excellent.  Smooth, spicy - nice kick.

Goodbye Jr. Seau

An Icon in San Diego.  He will be missed.  Nothing short of tragic.  This hurts.....

If we can learn anything from tragedy, perhaps the lesson here is that it's not important what happens to you in life, how much money you earn, what you accomplish, so much as who you love and how you love them.

A Taste of Rum

Going down the Rum path today.

Zaya 12 yr.

Treating it like a good Scotch. a little water, let it mellow, unfold. So far so good. Definitely sweet. But complex too, smooth.

Why we are fans

This is why, even though they have never won anything and seem to be saddled with bad luck, even after they missed the playoffs the last 2 seasons and still kept their coach, I find myself still rooting and hoping my Chargers (or heck even the padres) have a chance to be something someday.....

"Once upon a time, I watched my beloved Patriots suddenly shed four decades of skeletons, catch every conceivable break and pull off one of the biggest Super Bowl upsets ever. Ten years later, they have three trophies and they're gunning for a fourth on Sunday. It can be done"
Bill Simmons, Sport's Guy
